ABSTRACT

This paper discusses the impact of evangelicalism on Africa. Evangelicalism is a global phenomenon whose influence is distinct on several continents, including Africa. In attaining the study’s goal, the writer utilized a qualitative research method involving books, journal articles, internet sources, and personal observations. The findings of the study revealed three significant areas upon which evangelicalism made significant impact in Africa, namely – empowerment and liberation, through faith in the Gospel, cultural transformation and education; socio-economic impact which involves the provision of social amenities, health care, and vocational training; and political impact which constitutes abolition of slavery and improvement in democracy. Therefore, this paper argues that the impact of evangelicalism on Africa is extensive and hence undeniable. Nevertheless, it is hoped that the full measure of this impact will be unrelenting and wholly permeate all facets of African life and existence for a brighter future as Evangelical Christians and or churches in Africa faithfully fulfill their personal and corporate duty.
